Andy's background behind the lens:

Andy has been studying photography since she bought her first Pentax in 1987.  She graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL in 1995 with a BA in Visual Arts with a focus on Photography and Calligraphy, and went on to study at the Morris College of Journalism of Sussex, England, getting a diploma in Travel Writing and Photography in 1998. Among her favorite learning memories are the time she spent time at the Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM in 1993 studying the techniques of Ansel Adams under one of his most esteemed apprentices.

Since moving to Steamboat Springs in 1998, Andy first honed and used her skills as a travel and sports photographer while writing two guidebooks on traveling with a disability with her husband Craig (Access Anything), and has also published her photographs in many travel and sports magazines. In additional, Andy was a staff photographer for Steamboat Ski Area authoring the daily "Straight Talk" report from 2003 to 2009, volunteer photographer for the STARS Adaptive Sports Program from 2010 to 2013, and most recently has made use of her photographic and writing skills in her position of Marketing Director for the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council from 2011 to 2016.

She has been featured as a photographer in the NYC section of Schmap, the 2011 and 2012 Cat Fancy Calendar, the Best of 2010 Photography Anthology by the Boulevard of Photographers, the Best of 2012 Photography Anthology by Rising Photographers, online at YVCF, and the cover of the 2014 Names and Numbers Phone Book. Andy has also been a regular contributor to Photoability and Steamboat Magazine since 2011.

Her vast 30 years of experience has lead to a philosophy of photography as balance between light, color, composition, and imagery; and her ever-present goal is to capture that single glorious moment in time. See more travel photography, snow and water sports, baby portraits, family portraits, animals, weddings, events and festivals, and still life - interiors, food, and architecture.

Also, her blog, Andy's Idea Factory, is home to her instruction on photography and one of her educational posts on Point-and-Shoot Tips was reprinted in the Urban Ecology Photo Club April 2010 newsletter in Milwaukee, WI.

As of 2016, Andy is taking a break from professional photography to focus on Health Coaching through The Juice Plus Company. but she will never totally put the camera down forever and continues to occasionally post her best photos on the AJDesign and Photography Facebook business page.
